Russian intelligence services orchestrated a series of destabilizing operations across Western Europe using Serbian nationals recruited from Velika Plana, according to court documents reviewed by Radio Free Europe.
Three individuals pleaded guilty in Serbia in December 2025 and received sentences ranging from six months to 18 months of house arrest for their participation in operations designed to "fuel religious and national intolerance" and "destabilize conditions" in France and Germany.
The revelation raises serious questions about Serbia's EU accession prospects and regional security cooperation at a time when Belgrade continues to maintain close ties with Moscow despite Western pressure.
Systematic Campaign of Provocation
The recruited operatives conducted multiple incidents throughout 2025, according to the court documents. In April, they distributed 600-700 stickers bearing Armenian genocide commemorations near Paris landmarks. The following month, during the Champions League final, they vandalized synagogues and the Holocaust Museum with green paint.
The operations escalated in September when participants placed severed pig heads at nine mosques across Paris, accompanied by inflammatory graffiti. In Germany, the group positioned five plastic skeletons in concrete near Berlin's Holocaust memorial in July, each bearing critical messages about the German Chancellor.
