The San Antonio Spurs didn't just close out the Minnesota Timberwolves - they made a statement. A 139-109 demolition job in Game 6 that announced to the basketball world: We're not just here. We're ready.
And leading the charge was rookie sensation Stephon Castle, who put on an absolute clinic with 32 points on 11-of-16 shooting, including a scorching 5-for-7 from three-point range. He added 11 rebounds and 6 assists, posting a ridiculous +28 in just 30 minutes.
Let me tell you something - this kid is special.
Castle wasn't just efficient, he was dominant. Every time Minnesota tried to make a run, he had an answer. A three here, a drive there, a perfectly timed assist. At one point in the third quarter, with the game still hanging in the balance, he hit back-to-back threes that broke the Timberwolves' spirit.
De'Aaron Fox added 26 points and Dylan Harper came off the bench with another 26. The three of them accounted for nearly half of San Antonio's scoring in a performance that had the Spurs shooting 56% from the field and 47% from three.
Minnesota, by contrast, looked lost. They shot 38% from the field. Julius Randle had just 3 points in 23 minutes. Rudy Gobert was held scoreless. This was a team that ran out of answers.
Now the Spurs get what they wanted - a showdown with the #1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. San Antonio famously won the season series 4-1, but OKC has championship experience and home-court advantage.
This is the matchup everyone wanted to see. And after what we just witnessed, don't sleep on the Spurs.
That's what sports is all about, folks.
