This isn't just a slump. This is a crisis.
Real Madrid - one of the most successful clubs in soccer history - has now failed to win five of their last six matches across all competitions. Their latest disappointment came Saturday when Hector Bellerin scored in the 90+4' minute to give Real Betis a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Let me repeat that: Real Madrid can't protect a lead at home in stoppage time. That's not Los Blancos. That's a team with serious problems.
This is the club's worst form since the 2018-19 season, when they were in complete disarray after Cristiano Ronaldo's departure. Back then, they were searching for an identity. What's the excuse now?
The stats are damning. One win in six games. Dropping points to teams they should be beating comfortably. Conceding late goals. Looking disjointed, unmotivated, and frankly, beatable. This is Real Madrid we're talking about - a club that's supposed to intimidate opponents just by walking onto the pitch.
Instead, they're the ones looking intimidated.
"We have to look at ourselves," one unnamed Madrid player told reporters after the match. "This isn't good enough. We know it. The fans know it. Something has to change."
The question is: What changes? The talent is there. Real Madrid didn't suddenly forget how to play soccer. But something is broken in that locker room. Whether it's tactics, mentality, leadership, or all of the above - something isn't working.
Fans are furious, and rightfully so. When you support Real Madrid, you expect a certain standard. You expect to win games you should win. You expect to protect leads at home. You expect your team to show up with pride and fight for the badge.
