It's exactly the kind of prestige play Netflix has been pursuing as it tries to legitimize itself beyond algorithm-driven content.

Twenty minutes is a long time for a standing ovation, even by Cannes standards. For context, Parasite got eight minutes. The Irishman got ten. When a film gets 20 minutes of applause at Cannes, it either means the film is transcendent or the audience really wanted dinner. Sometimes both.
Netflix's acquisition strategy has always been about buying legitimacy.
