You can't write this stuff, folks! In one of the wildest overtime sequences you'll ever see, Brady Tkachuk literally tackled Connor McDavid to stop a breakaway, the Edmonton Oilers got the power play, and Evan Bouchard buried a one-timer to complete the comeback victory over Ottawa.

Let's set the scene: overtime, game on the line, and McDavid - the best player on the planet - breaks free with nothing but open ice and the goalie between him and glory. Tkachuk knows he's beat. He knows McDavid is going to score. So what does he do? He wraps him up like a linebacker and brings him down.

The refs had no choice but to call holding. Two minutes in overtime means 4-on-3 hockey, and with McDavid and the Oilers power play, that's basically a guaranteed goal. Sure enough, Bouchard ripped a one-timer that the Ottawa goalie never saw, and the Oilers escaped with two points.

Now here's what I love about this play: Tkachuk made the smart hockey decision. Yeah, it was a penalty. Yeah, it gave Edmonton the power play. But if he doesn't tackle McDavid, that's a breakaway goal and the game is over anyway. At least the tackle gave Ottawa a chance to kill the penalty.

But McDavid got the last laugh, and that's poetic justice. This is a player who gets mugged and hooked and held on almost every shift because he's so impossibly skilled that it's the only way to slow him down. Seeing him set up the game-winning power play goal after getting tackled? That's karma in action.

This game had playoff intensity written all over it. The Battle of Alberta extended family rivalry (Tkachuk's brother Matthew famously played for Calgary) never disappoints, and even though Ottawa isn't a division rival, the personal history between these players adds spice to every matchup.

For Edmonton, this was a gutsy win. Down late, they battled back, got a fortunate break on the penalty, and capitalized when it mattered. For Ottawa, it's a painful loss but Tkachuk did everything he could to prevent the inevitable.

That's what sports is all about, folks - desperate plays, clutch goals, and justice served in overtime.
