Chris Bosh has always been real with us, folks. That's what made him special on the court, and it's what makes him special now.
In a YouTube video posted Tuesday, the Hall of Fame forward opened up about a terrifying recent medical emergency that left him unconscious and bloodied - and counting his blessings just to be here.
"So I woke up covered in my own blood, it was crazy, it was fast, it was instant," Bosh said in the video. "There was no warning, I didn't have any time to prepare for it. I was getting ready to go on a date with my wife and the next thing you know I was... I was on the ground."
Let me tell you something - for a guy who had to retire early from the NBA in 2016 because of blood clots, this hits different. Bosh was just 39 years old when doctors found clots in his lungs, ending a brilliant career that included 11 All-Star appearances and two championships with the Miami Heat.
Now this. And while he didn't get into specifics about what exactly happened, you can see in the video he's still recovering.
"I'm not gonna try to hide that one, in case I look different," he said. "But it was a scary thing, and it came fast, and it made me really have a different outlook on life."
Here's where Bosh shows you why he's always been more than just a basketball player. Instead of dwelling on what happened, he's turning it into a message: Don't wait.
"Don't wait to take action," emphasized.
